The bullring was built by utilizing the cavity of an old quarry, excavating the rock to give it a circular shape. The pens, stables and infirmary are carved directly into the stone, making it a unique arena in Spain.
Construction of La Monumental began around 1911, promoted by local enthusiast Jaime Serra Palau, and was completed in 1918. Since then it has been the uninterrupted stage for Muro’s bullfighting tradition, with the exception of a period of inactivity between 2017 and 2025.
